ALL THAT IS EVIL is an independent film production currently in principal photography. This ambitious horror/thriller is shooting in the Upstate of South Carolina and in parts of Western North Carolina. Stick around after the interview to learn more about the project.

INTERVIEW WITH LAINIE SMITH

Lainie, where are you based out of? Is this where you grew up?

"Having lived here since the 70s, I would say yes Atlanta is where I grew up; although if you actually remember living in the 70s, you probably didn’t really live them, lol."

How would you describe the industry in your city?

"The first thing I did in Film was in 1990 in Covington Georgia with Carol O’Connor and a little TV series called 'In the Heat of the Night' and it was amazing then and it’s amazing now. I feel the Georgia Film industry is about to bust loose. There are many components to it and each one has its part to play, but I truly feel it’s on the edge. Perhaps with Georgia with metro Atlanta, as the big sibling to the surrounding states. In Atlanta, we have studios small and large — Pinewood was first, now Trilith, Tyler Perry, Eagle Rock, Lions Gate and there are many more. So yes, I feel the southeast region for Film is incredible. And all of that brings so much work to the region for individuals for writers for actors for production, including theater, catering housing transportation – all of that thrives."

What are your thoughts about working on a film here in the Upstate of South Carolina?

"It’s a beautiful state and an actually a short easy drive for me. I love the work."

Let's get into the history... How did you get your start as an actor?

"This question has come about a lot for me and I have posted on my social media about it recently. My mother was an actress when she met my father. After they married and they started having children, she set it aside. I remember “observing” her constantly as I grew up — I wanted to be her, so it is from her that I found my passion for acting. Today it is my purpose, my hope that when I wake up every morning, I can do it all over again!"

Who is your celebrity crush and why?

"Hmmm… years ago, Sean Connery and why is, well, rather apparent."

Which actor/actress would you compare yourself to?

"Um yeah no - I choose not to compare."

Who inspired you to become an entertainer?

"My Moms, my Mama, and maybe a bit of Maureen O’Hara where she played a pirate, Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief, and Audrey Hepburn in everything she did!"

What aspirations do you have? Any specific projects, genres, or characters?

"I enjoy writing, I would love to direct, but I don’t believe I will ever let go of acting. Ha! I’m not one to limit myself so let’s just see what comes my way."

Tell us a little bit about your character in All That Is Evil.

"Ah! LUANNE! She’s a bad ass — from hello to hell no! She is the town’s resident mama bear! She knows everyone and can handle just about anything! The town can count on her from baking biscuits to delivering babies. She can be kind but don’t mistake that for weakness."

You've read the script... What do you think will excite audiences about All That Is Evil?

"There is so much there — the writing the characters the story. There is evil there is good. There is bad. There is funny there’s family. There’s hope there’s deceit but most of all, I like that there’s love. I find all of it exciting. I think the audiences will find something that excites them that touches them and that will bring this film home for them."
